Tamar Estuary River Health Action Plan - Catchment Works Program 

The Tamar Estuary River Health Action Plan – Catchment Works Program’ main aim is to reduce pathogen concentration in Zone 1 (Launceston to Legana) of the kanamaluka/Tamar estuary by 4.7%.
Funding is provided through Tamar Action Grants to support grazing and dairy landholders with the installation of riparian fencing to control stock access, revegetation, installation of off-stream stock water, stock crossings and effluent management upgrades on dairy farms across the Tamar Estuary and Esk Rivers catchments.
Within Launceston's urban area, actions have be taken to investigate and mitigate sewage intrusion into the separated stormwater system reducing pathogens from entering the kanamaluka/Tamar estuary.

The Catchment Works Program is a landscape restoration project with a clear overarching outcome to improve water quality locally and at a catchment scale.
