In 2017 Landcare Tasmania amended it's Constitution to provide for a skills based Board to be responsible for the proper management of the affairs of the organisation. Directors are elected by the membership for a term of 3 years and a maximum of 2 terms (with provision for a third term if needed to fill identified skills needs or for reasons of succession).

Bill Harvey - Chair

Bill Harvey joined Landcare Tasmania’s Board as Chair in 2021. Bill brings governance expertise and a wide network to the Board, being an experienced leader in local government. First elected to the City of Hobart Council in 2007, Bill currently chairs the Sustainability in Infrastructure Portfolio Committee, and led the City of Hobart to be the first capital city in Australia to declare a Climate and Biodiversity Emergency. In addition to his experience as a director and chair, Bill has been personally involved in Landcare since the 1990’s, is committed to the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, and is passionate about making Tasmania a genuine leader in environmental sustainability. 

Melinda McHenry

Dr Melinda McHenry is a physical geographer, agroecologist and Learning and Teaching strategist at the University of Tasmania. Melinda has 15+ years of experience in the public and private sector, primarily working on issues related to natural resource management. Melinda contributes to state and national policy in soil conservation, geoheritage and geoconservation, and higher education. Melinda supervises a number of postgraduate students, with recent projects including gorse management (featuring landcare properties in the northern Midlands), recovery of native and introduced herbivores post-fire in Tasmania, pollutants in biosolids used as organic amendments on farms, and more. She is embarking on a national carbon-farming certification scheme investigation with landholders transitioning to sustainable agriculture. She considers her greatest achievement to date to be in her empowerment of rural, regional and non-traditional higher degree research students to obtain meaningful employment and meet other goals within their communities. Melinda is an LGBTQI+ ally, and NAHMI Mental Health Advocate.

Mark Harrison

Mark Harrison is a highly experienced senior executive, with 17 over years’ experience in Finance and Accounting. Mark is currently the Director of Finance at Savage Group in Hobart, where he provides holistic advice to the business owners on business growth, management, risk, tax and accounting and all other commercial aspects of operations. Mark is a member of the Risk and Audit Subcommittee with Tasmanian Land Conservancy and has been active within many other environmental non-profit organisations over the course of his career.

Rosemary Collins

Rosemary is an engaging and enthusiastic educator and trainer for migrants learning English at Max Solutions in Launceston. She has had several ministerial board appointments including the Veterinary Board of Tasmania, TasTAFE Board and Ministerial Advisory Group on Mental Health. In addition to these, she has worked tirelessly on community development projects in the Meander Valley receiving recognition for clocking up over 1000 voluntary hours. She also runs the property-based Glenore Farm Landcare Group, aiming to improve the long-term sustainability of the farm and provide native habitat for local flora and fauna.

Peter Voller PSM

Peter grew up on a farm near Nanango in Queensland. After studying at Gatton College he worked in the Queensland Government for 25 years as an agroforestry extension officer in inland areas later working on delivery of vegetation management controls on farms. He moved to Tasmania in 2007 taking on the role of Manager Natural Values Conservation in DPIPWE, retiring in 2018. He has been involved in landcare since the early 1980s and is presently chair of West Tamar Landcare Group. He is also Chair of Cradle Coast NRM, a Director on Cradle Coast Authority Board, and Director representing Tasmania on the NRM Regions Australia Board. Peter has a lifelong connection to landcare as a community movement. He was awarded the Public Service Medal in the Order of Australia in 2001 for services to vegetation management in Queensland.

Vanessa Bleyer

Vanessa Bleyer is director and principal lawyer at Bleyer Lawyers Pty Ltd, specialising in environmental law and commercial law with offices in Launceston and Melbourne. She has extensive experience on boards of not for profit organisations. She was Chairperson of Environment Tasmania Inc, President of Lawyers for Forests Inc, board member of the Architects Registration Board of Victoria and member of the Greens Beach Advisory Committee to the West Tamar Council. She is currently Chair of the Northern Area Advisory Group to the West Tamar Council and board member of Community Care Tasmania. She brings legal, corporate and governance skills to the board of Landcare Tasmania.

Katrina Spark

Katrina Spark is a for-purpose leader focused on empowering others to deliver to their strengths. With over 20 years’ experience leading teams across banking, finance, retail and not-for-profit sectors, her philosophy centres around leaving Tasmania in a better place than she found it. She believes collaboration and strong local partnerships are important success factors, together with minimising environmental impact. She is currently CEO of Girl Guides Tasmania and a Board Member of Women’s Legal Service Tas. She brings finance, corporate, and governance skills to the Board of Landcare Tasmania plus a passion for nature and its impact on wellbeing.
